About your Chiropractor

Dr Joanna Nicholson, D.C., BSc (Hons), BA (Hons), MMCA, MCC, BHSAI, MIVCA

I graduated with a first class honours degree in Chiropractic from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic then went on to postgraduate training in Animal Chiropractic with the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic before taking and passing the independent board exam of the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. In total it has taken 6 years training to achieve the status of Human and Animal Chiropractor and I still keep myself up to date with new research and developments in chiropractic through CPD training.

I now divide my time between Human and Animal Practice. I use the McTimoney technique to treat all kinds of people from birth to the elderly, from families to professional sports people, in my Human Chiropractic Clinic near Bedale, North Yorkshire. Within my animal practice I specialise in Equine Chiropractic using Veterinary Chiropractic techniques, Sports Massage and stretching to treat pets through to performance animals.

I am a member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association, the College of Chiropractors and registered with the General Chiropractic Council (reg. no. 2951). I am also a member of the International Veterinary Chiropractic association and a fully qualified riding instructor having taken my British Horse Society exams and spent many years working at the Yorkshire Riding Centre before starting my chiropractic training.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and young daughter, swimming, playing tennis, running, helping my husband with his herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle, joint organising the British Eventing Thornton Watlass Horse Trials and horse riding including competing my own horses at Medium level dressage.
